English Teaching in the United Kingdom

Key Stages 3 and 4

Links for Students
Although this is intended primarily as a page for teachers, students at Key Stages 3 and 4 will find much to interest them. KS4 students can't afford to ignore these - they are really helpful, and not just for English. Visitors should also look at "Language" and at KS4 Literature Texts and Notes, where they will find much more to help them.

Authors deemed suitable for study at Key Stages 3 and 4 (from New National Curriculum Orders, November 1999) I hope to develop this section and to add links and materials useful in supporting study of these authors. This may take some time, but should become useful by the end of the year. At the moment, it's just a list of names.

Self-assessment at KS3 A real time-saver: genuinely useful scheme. Students can assess their own progress, parents gain insight, and teachers no longer need re-invent the wheel. From Peter Tomkins.

Genre Sometimes it can be difficult to find source texts for genre work. The next five links offer versions of fairy and Folk tales.
